The Central Myanmar Mission (CMM) was organized and established in 1967 at the present existing headquarter, 19/180 Bayintnaung Road, Taungngu - a 175 mile distance north of Yangon on Yangon-Mandalay highway. CMM is one of four missions and an attached district of Myanmar Union Mission that has more than 25 thousand members.
Prior to 1967, the CMM as a small district with few churches was run by Upper Myanmar Mission. However, as the work progressed and expanded to many areas it was decided that the CMM to run by itself with the appointment of Pr. Tun Maung as the first mission president.
CMM is composed of Kaya State, Rakhine State, Southern Shan State, Northern part of Kayin State, Southern part of Magwe Division, Southern part of Mandalay Division, Nothern part of Pegu Division, and Southern part of Chin State. It is about 1/4 part of the whole Union.
Lower land of the mission with low altitude has hot climate in summer season and fair climate in winter season. Some part of the mission have cold climate in all seasons.
The population in the Central Myanmar Mission is about 5006300 while SDA members is 5909. The ratio of Adventists to non-Adventist is 1 : 837.07.
